# TAGCOIN (TAG)

Tagcoin is the native/default cryptocurrency of [**TAG Protocol**](/tagprotocol/master.md). It has pre-defined production rate and is limited in supply just like Bitcoin or Ethereum. Tagcoins can be earned by staking your [**Hashtag NFT**](/tagprotocol/tag-protocol-assets/hashtag.md) token in [**Tagcoin Staking**](/tagprotocol/features/step3-tagcoin-mining-pool.md) **Pool**. Production rate of 625 [Tagcoin ](/tagprotocol/tag-protocol-assets/what-are-tagcoins.md)per hour or 5,475,000 per year will continue in perpetuity after year five. Also note that system calculates 10,512,000 [Binance Smart Chain](/tagprotocol/technical-glossary/binance-smart-chain.md) blocks as one year. This is based on 3 second block production rate of [Binance Smart Chain](/tagprotocol/technical-glossary/binance-smart-chain.md). Hourly rewards are calculated every **1200 blocks** based on the same principle.
